AI Prompts

AI roleplay prompts.

Turn the AI into an interviewer, tutor, debate partner or practice customer — tap to copy, then set the scene.

Practice & prepare

Mock interviewer

Act as an interviewer for a [job title] role. Ask me one interview question at a time, wait for my answer, then give brief feedback and a follow-up. Start easy and get harder. Begin now.

Practice a difficult conversation

Role-play as [the person, e.g. my manager or an upset client]. The situation: [describe it]. I'll practice what I want to say; respond realistically as that person would, and stay in character until I say stop.

Practice customer for sales

Act as a skeptical potential customer for [product/service]. Raise realistic objections and questions as I pitch. Stay in character, and at the end break character to tell me what was convincing and what wasn't.

Learn & explore

Language conversation partner

Act as a friendly [language] conversation partner at a [beginner/intermediate] level. Chat with me about [topic], keep your replies short, gently correct my mistakes, and ask me a question back each time.

Socratic tutor

Be a Socratic tutor for [topic]. Instead of giving me answers, ask guiding questions that lead me to work it out myself. If I'm stuck, give a small hint, not the answer.

Expert advisor

Act as an experienced [role, e.g. editor or fitness coach]. I'll describe my situation: [describe it]. Ask clarifying questions first, then give practical, specific advice. Note where I should consult a real professional.

Think & debate

Debate partner

Take the opposing side and debate me on [topic/position]. Argue the strongest version of the other view, challenge my points directly but fairly, and don't let me off easy. I'll start.

Red-team my idea

Act as a tough but constructive critic. Here's my [plan/idea/argument]: [describe it]. Poke holes in it — find the weak assumptions, risks and counterarguments — then suggest how to strengthen it.

Devil's advocate for a decision

I'm leaning toward [decision]. Argue the case against it as persuasively as you can so I can stress-test my thinking. Then give a balanced final read.

The trick is committing the AI to a role

Roleplay prompts are some of the most useful and most underused — they turn a chat assistant into a practice partner you can rehearse with as many times as you like, with no stakes and no scheduling. The key ingredients are telling it who to be, what the scene is, and to stay in character until you say stop, plus asking it to break character at the end for feedback. Use it to run mock interviews, practice a hard conversation before having it for real, debate the other side of your own position, or have your idea torn apart constructively. One caveat on the "expert advisor" prompts: an AI playing a doctor, lawyer or financial adviser is a thinking aid, not a substitute for a qualified professional on anything that actually matters.

FAQ

How do I get the AI to stay in character?
Say so explicitly — 'stay in character until I say stop' — and ask it to break character at the end for feedback. If it slips, just remind it to continue the role.
Can I trust an AI 'expert' for real advice?
Treat it as practice or a starting point, not professional advice. For anything with real consequences — medical, legal, financial — confirm with a qualified human before acting.
