Which words get capitalized?

The usual convention capitalizes the first and last word and every major word in between — nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs and pronouns — while leaving short function words lowercase: articles (a, an, the), coordinating conjunctions (and, but, or) and short prepositions (in, on, of, to). Style guides differ on the fine print: the AP stylebook lowercases prepositions of three letters or fewer, while Chicago goes to four. This converter capitalizes the first letter of every word, which is the behavior most people expect for web headlines; nudge any small words by hand if your house style is stricter.

Title case vs the alternatives

Use title case for headlines and proper titles. For running text and most modern interfaces, sentence case reads more naturally; to shout a short label, use uppercase sparingly.
